Description

Desk made of thickened MDF with a cabinet for the computer in the middle. The tabletop should appear to be floating (except for the middle) because it is slid over slats that are attached to the wall.

How did you make the desk?

Desk and base cabinet in matt white lacquer. I ordered MDF film so one coat of lacquer was sufficient. I mounted the slats on the wall by measuring the correct height and marking it with a spirit level. It was very important to mark this accurately because the cabinet had to fit exactly underneath it later. The slats were secured with hammer plugs. I then slid the desk over the slats and screwed it to the underside. The cabinet was then placed under the desk. Sealing both sides is still under consideration. The cables for the keyboard and monitor were pulled through the desktop.
